Lyrics and music James Lord Pierpont

If there is a top five of the greatest Christmas songs, « Jingle Bells » is inevitably one of them.
This song was first written in 1857 by James Lord Pierpont for Thanksgiving (a holiday set on the fourth Thursday in November in the United States) at Savannah Church in Georgia where the composer’s brother officiated.
James Lord Pierpont takes us to a world of snow, horse drawns leighs and bells. These traditional images of cold winters make us think of Santa Claus’s sledge with his reindeers. Les Voix Animées’s a cappella version follows the long list of cover versions of the song by Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole, Judy Garland, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, The Beatles and many more…
